On our driving trip last week from San Francisco to Los Angeles, we stopped in beautiful Santa Ynez to visit Gainey Winery. Just a slight detour off our route, Gainey Vineyard was a lovely stop mid-way to our destination.
Beautiful Paso Robles is a short drive from San Francisco. We enjoyed great wines, a visit to Moonstone Beach and watched the Elephant Seals at Elephant Seal Beach.
The JRE 2010 Zinfandel Dry Creek is not a “big” Zinfandel that you typically find out of the Dry Creek Region (such as Mazzocco Winery, De La Montanya Winery) but is very smooth with light tannins. In the end this is an excellent Weekday Wine.
Back in June 2010 I had the pleasure of visiting the Mantova region of northern Italy during one of my business trips. This was the first time I had tried Limoncello and I was hooked.
We’re wrapping up the year here at Zagleft and what an exciting year it’s been!
Botskis Bottle Ties are a fun and festive miniature necktie designed to fit any bottle. Perfect for gift giving.
The 2009 Pedernales Cellers Tempranillo is a very balanced smooth wine with flavors of berries, plums, and vanilla.
The 2011 Silver Range Malbec is one of best red wines I have enjoyed for $10. It is a full bodied red wine with a very smooth finish. The broad flavor profile includes blackberry and cherry flavors with a slight hint of vanilla. The 2011 Silver Range Malbec would compliment heavy red meat dishes (BBQ or roasts) but is also subtle enough to go with saucy chicken dish.
The Ca’ Momi Rosso Di Napa Red Wine has a broad red berry and raspberry flavor with a very smooth finish. The light fruity style of the wine will compliment everything from hamburgers to Italian dishes. In other words, this is a very good go-to wine for most any occasion.
The 2009 McPherson Cellars Sangiovesered wine has a light fruity cherry smell with a hit of French Oak. The wine is smooth with the dark cherries and delicate oak background that finishes nicely with slight tannins.
We enjoyed the Au Bon Climat 2009 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir with Roasted Corn and Kale Quiche Joanie created tonight. The bright berry flavors from this well balanced wine were a perfect compliment. As with all good wines, enjoying it by itself is also a great option. We plan to enjoy another glass later tonight on our back patio while we enjoy one of the first cool nights after a long hot summer.
The 2010 Fleur du Cap Pinotage wine has a very rich berry nose with a hint of peppery oak.
The Chamisal Vineyards Stainless Chardonnay wine is very fruity with orange, lemon and lime citrus flavors that stand on their own. The Chardonnay wine is finishes very clean with a bit of a light acid which makes it a great wine to pair with light summer meals (or by itself).
This Limoncello Champagne Aperitif is refreshing and festive. The sweetness in the limoncello compliments the champagne and adds a touch of brightness.
