Central California Wine Discovery – Au Bon Climat 2009 Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County

We enjoyed the Au Bon Climat 2009 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir with Roasted Corn and Kale Quiche Joanie created tonight. The bright berry flavors from this well balanced wine were a perfect compliment. As with all good wines, enjoying it by itself is also a great option. We plan to enjoy another glass later tonight on our back patio while we enjoy one of the first cool nights after a long hot summer.

Chamisal Vineyards Central Coast Stainless Chardonnay 2011 wine – letting the grape speak for itself

The Chamisal Vineyards Stainless Chardonnay wine is very fruity with orange, lemon and lime citrus flavors that stand on their own. The Chardonnay wine is finishes very clean with a bit of a light acid which makes it a great wine to pair with light summer meals (or by itself).

Le Cuvier 2008 Zinfandel – Paso Robles “Big” Zin

The 2008 Zinfandel is definitely “big” with 17.4% Alcohol with broad range of favors that hit you when you take your first sip but become complex and nuanced as you let it linger on you tongue and with a long smooth finish. The complex structure of the wine comes from the wine making process where the wine is allowed to sit onits skins for an extended time and then in the barrel for over 2 years.

Le Cuvier Rose Wine

The Le Cuvier Rosé Wine is the only rosé that is meant to serve at room temperature, which is a testament to the quality of the wine. The wine has a light coral color and is extremely light and dry on the tongue with red berry layers that linger.

J. Lohr Gesture GSM 2009 – Wonderful Wine Blend from Paso Robles

The Gesture GSM has great body, depth and flavor complexity starting with wild berry nose that is a prelude to the layers of dark fruit flavors that are highlighted with a touch of pepper. Having spent the past few years focused on Sonoma County red wines that tend to be big and bold, Paso Robles wines are typically are more subtle letting the complexity of the wine come through over time.

De La Montanya Pinot Noir..Great Accompaniment to a Summer Evening

Tweet I know it is still May but in Houston it feels like Summer.  At our household, Thursday nights are the start of the weekend and we decided to end a day of work and then working out with grilled chicken and a bottle of De La Montanya Pinot Noir Christine’s Vineyard 2010.  As you may [...]

Stryker Sonoma Zinfandel “Oz” Alexander Valley Sonoma County 2008 Wine …Twist and Drink

The Stryker Sonoma “Oz” Zinfandel is a medium bodied wine that is fruity but light on the tongue with a clean finish. An expert from the winery provides a great description of the wine: Aromas of bright cherry, vanilla bean and clove ….a soft yet full body of raspberry and dried cherry pave the way for a medium finish that lingers just long enough to entice another sip.

Casa Lapostolle Syrah Cuvee Alexandre Las Kuras Vineyards … great Chilean wine

TweetEvery Saturday I look forward to the “On Wine” article in the Wall Street Journal covering topics from winemakers to recent trends in the fickle world of wine.  This past week there was an article focused on the Apaita part of Chile’s Colchagua Valley (Worldly Tastes From a Quiet Corner of Chile).  I have had [...]

I would highly recommend this wine for fish, spicy foods, and sitting by the pool on a warm day (as I am while writing this while listening to Dr John and the Neville Brothers).
