For years, our family has managed to have some pretty successful trips together even with the huge age differences. Here are a few of our picks for summer travel destinations that are sure to please the entire family.
Beautiful Paso Robles is a short drive from San Francisco. We enjoyed great wines, a visit to Moonstone Beach and watched the Elephant Seals at Elephant Seal Beach.
The JRE 2010 Zinfandel Dry Creek is not a "big" Zinfandel that you typically find out of the Dry Creek Region (such as Mazzocco Winery, De La Montanya Winery) but is very smooth with light tannins. In the end this is an excellent Weekday Wine.
The Ca' Momi Rosso Di Napa Red Wine has a broad red berry and raspberry flavor with a very smooth finish. The light fruity style of the wine will compliment everything from hamburgers to Italian dishes. In other words, this is a very good go-to wine for most any occasion.
We enjoyed the Au Bon Climat 2009 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir with Roasted Corn and Kale Quiche Joanie created tonight. The bright berry flavors from this well balanced wine were a perfect compliment. As with all good wines, enjoying it by itself is also a great option. We plan to enjoy another glass later tonight on our back patio while we enjoy one of the first cool nights after a long hot summer.
The Chamisal Vineyards Stainless Chardonnay wine is very fruity with orange, lemon and lime citrus flavors that stand on their own. The Chardonnay wine is finishes very clean with a bit of a light acid which makes it a great wine to pair with light summer meals (or by itself).
The 2008 Zinfandel is definitely "big" with 17.4% Alcohol with broad range of favors that hit you when you take your first sip but become complex and nuanced as you let it linger on you tongue and with a long smooth finish. The complex structure of the wine comes from the wine making process where the wine is allowed to sit onits skins for an extended time and then in the barrel for over 2 years.
TweetAs mentioned in earlier posts, I am a fan of Hahn Family Winery and the broad range of value and high-end wines. Tonight we are enjoying Hahn’s Central Coast Syrah 2009. The price point is $10 – $12 and is a great weekday red to enjoy with dinner or relaxing after work. The wine is [...]
TweetIn November on our way down to Paso Robles from San Jose, we decided to visit Hahn Winery. Hahn Winery is located in Soledad, which is at the halfway point between San Jose and Paso Robles. I originally read about Hahn SLH wines with I was searching for highly rated wines that were a good [...]
